Cynthia J. Sollod
Cynthia Sollod has a strong background in the plantsciences. She received a BS degree in Botany from the University of Maryland and MS and Ph.D. degrees in Plant Pathology from North Carolina State University. Her strong interest in plants and drawing led her to classes at the NC
Botanical Gardens at UNC- Chapel Hill. She started drawing with color pencil and broadened her skills to include graphite, pen and ink, and watercolor through the certificate program at the North Carolina Botanical Garden at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. She received her
Certificate in Botanical Illustration in November 2006. While not a professional artist, she continues to draw as a hobby and has expanded her subject matter to include birds and other animals in addition to plants. She is a member of the Guild for Natural Science. Cynthia has participated in Guild shows at the NC Botanical Gardens, the Natural History Museum in Raleigh, the Page-Walker Center in Cary, and the Pine Knolls Shore Aquarium in Pine Knolls, NC.
